Welcome to something refreshing on the Republican landscape! It’s unity instead of division, pragmatism instead of social dogma. It’s what our party has traditionally stood for – and we take pride in that heritage. It was Republicans that led the fight for civil rights – first in abolishing slavery, then in expanding equal rights for women, and then in fighting to end racial inequality. Republicans busted up the big trusts and fought against corporate monopolies. Republicans fought for environmental protection and against political patronage. Republicans ended the Vietnam War and won the Cold War without firing a shot.
Ours is a party with a proud past and an optimistic future based on traditional Republican values.
Our values unite rather than divide – fiscal responsibility, limited government, individual liberties and a belief in the power of the free markets and free people. It is these values that made our party strong and our country great.
These are unquestionably tough times for our country. Our economy continues to struggle and we stand on the brink of an unprecedented fiscal crisis in Washington. But our country has faced bigger challenges and overcome them – together! Now is the time for those of us who care about the Republican party and who honor its proud legacy to come together to work to put America back on track!
To find the solutions to the challenges we face as a nation, we need to put together a governing coalition – capable of and committed to making Washington work again. To build a governing coalition, we must reach out to independents, disaffected Democrats, centrists, suburbanites and young voters. To do so we must offer pragmatic, common sense solutions to the complex challenges facing our country today.
